WHAT: May is Hypertension Awareness Month, and a new device for high blood pressure now in clinical trials is showing promise for treating U.S. hypertension (high blood pressure) patients whose condition is not controlled by drugs. WHY: Hypertension affects approximately 73 million people in the United States alone. High blood pressure is the number one risk factor for stroke and causes an estimated one in eight deaths worldwide. Each incremental increase of 20 mmHg in systolic blood pressure or 10 mmHg in diastolic blood pressure above normal levels is associated with a two-fold increase in death rates from stroke, coronary heart disease and other vascular causes.

According to the National Institutes of Health, approximately 25 percent of people with hypertension cannot control their high blood pressure, despite the use of multiple medications. These patients may not respond to drugs, or they may not be able to maintain their complex medication regimens. Hotel Industry Silent On Scam

The Scam the Hotel Industry Will Not Talk About, Says Report

April 8, 2008 - Pierrefitte-es-Bois, France - Over 60 percent of travelers make their reservations online, but the tactics of the online hotel reservations and booking intermediaries often prevent them from booking direct with the hotel of their choice.

According to a new report, consumers are prevented from finding all the hotels in the city of their destination when they use a search engine, and the result is that many hotels are missed by consumers, while booking agents continue to reap high profits from their tactics.

The free report details the "dirty tricks" used by booking agents and hotel reservations web sites to control the travel consumer. It also explains how hotel managers and owners can quickly and easily regain lost Internet business that the booking agents are trying to take away.

Thuy is not alone in his warnings about the manipulations of search engines by the travel industry. "Use a search engine the way travel consumers use it. Search for two words, your city and hotel. Your web site will not be on that first page because the scam artists control all those listings. His claim was confirmed with searches for Paris hotels, Dublin hotels, Luxembourg hotels, and Rome hotels. Each showed a list of booking agent web sites with no individual hotels listed.

"Booking agents have the search engines rigged so that travelers will only find the agency web sites and will not find the sites for individual hotels. That way they capture most online reservations," said Thuy.

The free report not only informs hotel owners and managers how they are being duped by the hotel reservations web sites, but also offers specific advice on how they can regain full control and recapture the business they have lost to the unscrupulous intermediaries they in fact no longer need.

"The important thing to remember is what is in the student and borrower's best interests," Babb continued. "With college costs increasing almost 40% over the past five years, educational funding resources need to increase as well. Hopefully, this student loan legislation will help keep pace with this demand."

The State of Nevada has made a change in the privacy rules. State of Nevada still powerful in its pro-business stance. Those who have relied on bearer shares or other means to protect privacy may need to review corporate structure.

July 7, 2007 -- Bowing to pressure from several courts, the IRS and other governmental agencies, the State of Nevada has announced that it will enact certain reforms that will balance its pro-business stance while curbing alleged abuse by suspected individuals and firms who have misused Nevada laws in order to hide assets and identities.

Scott Letourneau, CEO of Nevada Corporate Planners, nationally known expert on how to incorporate in Nevada as well across the country, has written and spoken often about the misapplication of Nevada law by those touting bearer shares and use of nominees to hide identities.

Quoting Letourneau from a recent seminar for entrepreneurs, "When it comes to protecting your hard earned assets you want every advantage possible." Letourneau also agrees with the Nevada Secretary of State in that it appears promises are often made to those who incorporate in the State of Nevada that there is a level of privacy for the owners of a corporation or LLC that will help them in case of a lawsuit and that if they get sued no one will find out who the owner of the corporation or LLC may be. While touted as a means to prevent them from being the target of frivolous lawsuits, there have been cases of fraudulent acts by the incorporators as well as the companies.

Based on his knowledge and experience, Mr. Letourneau has found that the challenge in the creation of rock solid asset protection plan should not rely solely on the illusory promise of privacy through the use of Bearer shares (which don't work) and nominees (which work to a certain degree). Rather, to quote Mr. Letourneau, 'If the whole plan is designed to prevent the discovery of your assets to fend off a lawsuit and the corporation or LLC lacks substance; there are no employees anywhere; and no business license, the plan is doomed to fail'. In short, there is no asset protection.

Due to the abuses, Nevada is banning the use of the bearer shares and taking other remedial action, all of which are aimed at reducing the fraudulent actions but maintaining the State of Nevada's Pro-Business stance. However, Nevada is still powerful in the protection of the corporate veil. Medical Device Enables Minimally-Invasive Treatment

FDA Approves Medtronic's TalentT Abdominal Stent Graft for Repairing Aortic Aneurysms

Innovative Medical Device Enables Minimally-Invasive Treatment of Potentially Fatal Condition

MINNEAPOLIS--April 16, 2008--Medtronic, Inc. (NYSE: MDT), today announced approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for use of the TalentT Abdominal Stent Graft on the CoilTrac Delivery System, an innovative medical device that expands patient access to a minimally-invasive treatment option for abdominal aortic aneurysms.

Present in an estimated 1.2 million people and responsible for approximately 15,000 annual deaths in the United States, an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a dangerous bulge or weakening of the body's main artery that can rupture with fatal consequences if left untreated. Ruptured AAAs are currently the 10th leading cause of death among U.S. men over age 55, with fewer than 20 percent of people surviving a rupture. But early detection through painless ultrasound screening and minimally invasive treatment with a technique called endovascular repair (EVAR) have historically shown a significant improvement in the survival rate for patients of all ages.

"This important milestone demonstrates Medtronic's leadership and commitment to the field of aortic repair," said Katie Szyman, vice president and general manager of the Endovascular Innovations business at Medtronic. "Endovascular interventionalists in the United States now have access to the broadest portfolio of stent grafts for the treatment of their AAA patients. The Talent Abdominal System significantly increases the number of AAA patients who can benefit from minimally-invasive repair. As an alternative to open surgical repair, this device will save the lives of many people affected by abdominal aortic aneurysmal disease."

Expanding Indication for EVAR

The Talent Abdominal Stent Graft System makes endovascular repair (EVAR) accessible to an additional 20 percent of AAA patients, because of its unique proximal aortic neck length requirement of only 10 mm. Consisting of a woven polyester membrane supported by a tubular metal lattice, the device is specifically indicated for endovascular treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms with or without iliac involvement. The stent graft is available in diameters of up to 36 mm, as well as flared and tapered iliac limbs of 8 mm to 24 mm.

With a 12-year history of strong clinical performance including more than 45,000 implants worldwide, the Talent Abdominal Stent Graft is designed to offer broad patient applicability, suprarenal fixation and positioning accuracy. The stent graft features radiopaque markers for visual guidance during deployment and follow up, and the delivery system uses a single-step release mechanism for smooth deployment and a coiled rod for enhanced trackability and flexibility.

"The Talent Abdominal Stent Graft has provided excellent patient outcomes in clinical practice and in clinical study," said Dr. Michael L. Marin, professor of Vascular Surgery and chairman of the Department of Surgery at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. "In my own experience, with more than 750 successful implants using the Talent System, the performance of this stent graft has been very consistent, and its safety and efficacy have been well characterized through the results of our own clinical trial."

Advantages Over Open Repair

The Medtronic-sponsored clinical study of the Talent Abdominal Stent Graft System enrolled 166 patients at 13 medical centers between February 2002 and April 2003. All 166 patients received a Talent Abdominal Stent Graft; their outcomes were compared to those of 243 patients from the Society of Vascular Surgery (SVS) Surgical Control Group at 30 days and one year post-implant. Dr. Frank Criado, director of Union Memorial Hospital's Endovascular Program in Baltimore, was the principal investigator for the study.

The study demonstrated that the Talent Abdominal Stent Graft well exceeded the SVS Control in freedom from major adverse events at 30 days, with a statistically significant difference between the two groups: Talent, 89.2%; SVS Control, 44.0%. Although patients receiving the Talent Abdominal Stent Graft were older and had a higher baseline rate of co-morbidities, at 30 days post-implant they experienced lower rates of major adverse events compared with subjects treated with open surgery. Importantly, there were no aneurysm ruptures and no conversions to open surgery in the Talent group up to 12 months after device implantation.

"As Talent is already the leading stent graft for endovascular treatment of AAAs outside the United States, its approval by the FDA is a most welcome and exciting development," Dr. Criado said. "AAA patients in this country can now enjoy the benefits of this device, which has been shown in the pivotal clinical trial to have distinct advantages over standard surgical treatment."

In previous studies, EVAR has been shown to be an effective therapy for AAA, with fewer postoperative complications and shorter recovery times than open surgical repair. Results from a U.S. study published recently in The New England Journal of Medicine (Jan. 31, 2008), for example, indicate that perioperative mortality was significantly lower after EVAR than after open repair: 1.2 percent vs. 4.8 percent - a fourfold difference. Similarly, in a landmark study conducted in the United Kingdom and published in The Lancet (Sept. 4, 2004), the 30-day mortality rate for EVAR patients was 1.7 percent compared to 4.7 percent for patients who underwent open repair - a nearly threefold difference.

Although AAAs typically produce no symptoms until rupturing, they can be detected through a simple, painless and inexpensive ultrasound screening, which is offered free-of-charge to new Medicare beneficiaries. If detected before rupturing, AAAs with diameters of more than twice the size of the normal infrarenal aorta are typically treated with either open surgical repair or endovascular repair (EVAR). In contrast to open surgical repair, EVAR involves a minimally invasive procedure in which a stent graft is threaded through the femoral artery in a compressed state on a delivery system and expanded inside the aorta at the site of the aneurysm. Once in place, the stent graft creates a new path for blood flow, reducing pressure on the aneurysm.

Americas Watchdog alleges the ARPS/ARS fraud is the biggest case of fraud in US history for the following reasons:

    * Tens of thousands of US citizens were told by a name brand bank or a
Wall Street stock brokerage firm that auction rate preferred shares (ARPS/ARS) were just like cash, they were safe, they were just like a money market account, etc. The consumers did not want risk. Relying on their US bank or Wall Street stock brokerage firm, mom and pops and small investors in many cases were given an auction rate preferred share as a "safe alternative to a CD". Small investors were talked into investing hundreds of billions of dollars into this scheme.

    * Now these same
banks or stock brokers are telling their clients they cannot access their money right now. However, the banks or stock brokerage firms are offering the auction rate preferred US victims the ability to borrow back some of their money, with interest. Talk about Reform or transparency from banks and Wall Street. In another case Americas Watchdog has been demanding that Congress require banks and mortgage bankers disclose a little known mortgage kick back called a "
yield spread premium" for the last six years. According to the group, "50 million US homeowners pay a higher monthly mortgage payment today, because a bank or mortgage banker did not have to reveal the huge kick back they received, for increasing a home loan borrower's interest rate/monthly mortgage payment. Mortgage brokers must disclose these kick backs. Banks or mortgage bankers get the same kick backs, but they have no disclosure requirement."

Americas Watchdog says, "this kick back scheme rates #2 right behind the auction rate preferred shares fraud." In the case of the yield spread premium kick back, Congress has not been willing to require banks to disclose mortgage kickbacks because of the large donations they get from banks, home builders and
mortgage bankers. Americas Watchdog's National Mortgage Complaint Center estimates that banks, mortgage bankers or home builders not having to disclose huge mortgage kick backs combined with appraisal fraud, are two of the major reasons we now have a national real estate meltdown.     * Billions in tax breaks for national home builders that have failed to pay federal or

steroid use in baseball instead of Congressional hearings on drug companies paying off Congress for Medicare Part B that cost 30 billion dollars more per year than it should have (The drug companies actually wrote the legislation).

    * No Congressional hearings on Auction Rate Preferred Shares fraud even though its a $720+ billion dollar disaster

    * With lots of money going to Congress, the mortgage industry fought fiercely to spike a provision to let bankruptcy judges rewrite the terms of distressed mortgages. It won that battle; the provision was left out. This in light of the fact that home builders and banks artificially inflated the
values of US homes.

    *      Contrary to the Wall Streeet lies about the credit crunch being over within the next 12 months 1 in 5 Americans will owe more on their home than it is worth.

DANVILLE, Calif., April 7, 2008 -- Auction Rate Securities (ARS) are long term, variable rate bonds tied to short term interest rates. The rate is typically established through a Dutch Auction or remarketing process which is conducted by the auction or remarketing agent (typically a large broker-dealer or bank). ARS are issued by a wide range of entities, including municipalities, corporations, and closed-end funds.

Investigations are currently in progress regarding alleged securities fraud in connection with the sale of Auction Rate Securites (ARS) by a number of major broker-dealers, including UBS, Citigroup/Smith Barney, Wachovia, Merrill Lynch, Wells Fargo, Morgan Stanley, J.P. Morgan Chase and TD Ameritrade, among others. The issuers of the ARS include Blackrock, Eaton Vance, Nuveen, Legg Mason and ING.

According to recent news articles, the broker-dealers and issuers materially misrepresented the liquidity and risks of the ARS to individual investors and corporations by labeling these securities as "cash equivalents," in press releases, monthly account statements, individual communications with investors, and other investment guidance material. In fact, the promised liquidity of ARS was created artificially when the broker-dealers purchased their own securities in order to keep the market running smoothly.

Beginning on February 7, 2008, the market for ARS collapsed, as all of the major broker-dealers announced that they will no longer purchase ARS for their own accounts to ensure that the auctions do not fail and that the securities remain liquid. In the past month, thousands of auctions run by the broker-dealers have failed. As a result, over $350 billion in ARS that were once offered as "cash equivalents" are now illiquid, resulting in economic losses and severe hardships for investors. Some broker-dealers, including UBS and Goldman Sachs Group, have been sending investors brokerage statements noting that the ARS have been marked down in value.

Beginning in March 2008, several class action lawsuits have been filed against many of the participating banks.

In particular, it is natural to wonder about your own memory, and what is 'normal' when it comes to memory loss as a result of aging.

Occasional memory lapses, such as forgetting why you walked into a room or having difficulty recalling a person's name, become more common as we approach our 50s and 60s. It's comforting to know that this minor forgetfulness is a normal sign of aging, not a sign of dementia.

But other types of memory loss, such as forgetting appointments or becoming momentarily disoriented in a familiar place, may indicate mild cognitive impairment.

In the most serious form of memory impairment -Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia -- people often find themselves disoriented in time and place and unable to name common objects or recognize once-familiar people.

Here are examples of the types of memory problems common in normal age-related forgetfulness, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia.

Memory Condition -- Normal Age-Related Forgetfulness:
•    Sometimes misplaces keys, eyeglasses, or other items.
•    Momentarily forgets an acquaintance's name.
•    Occasionally has to "search" for a word.
•    Occasionally forgets to run an errand.
•    May forget an event from the distant past.
•    When driving, may momentarily forget where to turn. Quickly orients self.
•    Jokes about memory loss.

Memory Condition -- Mild Cognitive Impairment:
•    Frequently misplaces items.
•    Frequently forgets people's names and is slow to recall them.
•    Finding words becomes more difficult.
•    Begins to forget important events and appointments.
•    May forget more recent events or newly learned information.
•    May temporarily become lost more often.
•    May have trouble understanding and following a map.
•    Worries about memory loss. Family and friends notice the lapses.

Memory Condition -Alzheimer's Disease and Other Forms of Dementia:
•    Forgets what an item is used for or puts it in an inappropriate place.
•    May not remember knowing a person.
•    Begins to lose language skills. May withdraw from social interaction.
•    Loses sense of time. Doesn't know what day it is.
•    Short-term memory is seriously impaired. Has difficulty learning and remembering new information.
•    Becomes easily disoriented or lost in familiar places, sometimes for hours.
•    May have little or no awareness of cognitive problems.

If you are concerned about memory loss in yourself or a loved one, there can be a variety of underlying causes too which can be treated, for example, temporary memory loss due to depression, or certain prescription or over the counter medications. You should discuss such concerns with your doctor.

There are a number of tests your doctor can administer right in the office which can help determine whether it is cognitive impairment or Alzheimer's Sisease or another form of dementia.

The National Arbitration Forum Resolves Univision, Webkinz and Hershey's Kisses Domain Name Disputes

Dispute resolution program boasts a legal process that is quick, inexpensive, neutral and expert.

Minneapolis  -  September 13, 2007 -- www.domains.adrforum.com -- The National Arbitration Forum recently issued decisions on the rights to Univision.tv, Webkinzz.com, Webkniz.com, Weblinz.com and ChocolateKiss.com.

"Domain names have irreplaceable value for trademark holders. Abusive practices like cybersquatting and typosquatting can lead to disputes," said Kristine Dorrain, Internet Legal Counsel. "The National Arbitration Forum domain name dispute resolution program boasts a legal process that is quick, inexpensive, neutral and expert."

The following three decisions were made in accordance with the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) by independent and neutral arbitrators on the National Arbitration Forum's panel.

Univision.tv
On June 7, 2007, Univision Communications Inc., the premier Spanish-language media company in the United States, submitted a complaint electronically with the National Arbitration Forum asserting legal rights to the domain name Univision.tv. The Complainant requested the dispute be decided by a three-member panel.

The Panel concluded that the domain name is identical to the registered trademark UNIVISION with the addition of the .tv extension. Respondent and registered owner Edmundo Norte could not support his claim of an intent for future use as a parody site and did not demonstrate rights to or legitimate interests in Univision.tv. The Panel found that the Respondent offered to sell the domain name for an amount in excess of reasonable development expenses which supports findings of bad faith registration and use. The Complainant successfully established all three elements required under the ICANN Policy and defended its trademark in domain name dispute resolution. On August 16, 2007, Univision.tv was ordered to be transferred to Univision Communications Inc.

Webkinzz.com
Ganz, owner of Webkinz a popular line of real and virtual stuffed animals, submitted a complaint electronically on May 21, 2007. The National Arbitration Forum panelist found that the domain names Webkinzz.com, Webkniz.com, and Weblinz.com were registered by renowned cybersquatter Texas International Property Associates.

The Panel found that the three disputed domain names are confusingly similar to the WEBKINZ mark all with slight typographical variations. The Panel went on to find that erroneous variations of Complainant's WEBKINZ mark are typical of typosquatting -- using a website to profit from the mistyping of someone else's trademark -- and prove the Respondent's lack of rights and legitimate interests. The Hershey Company, one of the largest chocolate production facilities in the world, filed a claim electronically on April 20, 2007 against Respondent R. Reaves. Complainant, the Hershey Company, requested that the dispute over ChocolateKiss.com be handled by a panel of three National Arbitration Forum arbitrators.

The Panel found that ChocolateKiss.com was confusingly similar to Complainant's KISSES mark, as the term "chocolate" was simply descriptive of Complainant's business and the combination of the terms was calculated to suggest the involvement of Complainant. The Panel also found that Respondent lacked rights or legitimate interests because the content displayed on Respondent's website gave the erroneous impression that it was affiliated with Complainant. Finally, the Panel found that Respondent registered and was using the domain name in bad faith because Respondent was using this implied affiliation with Complainant to attract users to its website for commercial gain. Accordingly, the Panel granted Complainant's request for a transfer of the domain name on June 8, 2007.

Small Rural Business Missing the Mark on Marketing

Survey completed in February shows 98% of small rural businesses are handling their marketing on their own, without the assistance of a marketing specialist. Canadian Bankers Association recommends small businesses outsource their marketing communications to a professional advisor. Rural small business is most at risk of failure according to Department of Industry figures, yet this group has not recognized the value of professional marketing advisors.

Alvinston, ON  -  April 2, 2008 -- Rural small businesses face more challenges than urban or suburban businesses and often struggle with marketing their goods and services. "The mobile units enable the Farmers' Catastrophe Corps to respond immediately and effectively and are the center-point for handling claims and servicing customers," explained Farmers CEO, Paul N. Hopkins. "The buses and customer care vehicles have the most state-of-the-art equipment available
anywhere in the United States."

The Mobile Claims buses are 45 feet long and are built on a superior diesel platform. They are the only diesel powered buses in the
insurance industry with built-in data satellite on top of the platform to service customers. They are also equipped with various advanced technology, such as built-in GPS navigation, security/safety system, noise-reduction generator, and in-motion satellite TV, which allows Command Center personnel to track inclement weather and urgent news reports when all other forms of communication are unavailable. Stationed at Farmers National Catastrophe Claims Center in Olathe, Kansas, they can be dispatched in a moment's notice to any catastrophe in the contiguous United States.

Each of the 35 Customer Care Team Vehicles consists of a Chevrolet Suburban or a GMC Yukon XL and a trailer, which is transformed into a claims-command center upon arriving at a disaster. The CCV trailers will be placed in Farmers' 29 core states and available to deploy to any disaster in any of the contiguous United States within hours of a catastrophe to help Farmers customers with claims and non-customers with emergency
supplies where needed.

When not being used as a claims center, the
SUV and trailer can be used as a booth at community events to promote Farmers, its programs and corporate sponsors such as m.i.l.k. (Managing Information on Lost Kids) and the March of Dimes.
