Suspicious package prompts building evacuation downtown

An East Franklin Street building was evacuated this farewell after an employee discovered what Virginia State Police called a “suspicious package” addressed to Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va. State Police are now investigating the package, which was found inside the building on East Franklin Street between North Seventh and North Eighth streets, said state police Sgt. Thomas Molnar.
