Denison's link to the stars turns 100

Denison University is celebrating Swasey Observatory's centennial this year. The building was constructed in 1909 and opened in June 1910. It is named for Ambrose Swasey, a Cleveland machine tool and telescope manufacturer who was a Denison trustee from 1897 to 1937. He donated the observatory and telescope to the school, which has maintained the building with loving care ever since.
